The Beach With No Pebbles

This white sandy beauty, Pebbles beach, lies along the South coast of the island next to Hilton Beach (Needham's Point). We have no clue why it was named Pebbles beach as there are absolutely no pebbles! :) For some reason (which we love) this beach is never highly populated so it is basically yours when you go. Relax and soak up the beams; take a blanket and a picnic basket or better yet...Cuz is selling his famous food right next door!

Where The Cattle Used To Wash

To the North of the Bathsheba Village is another beautiful and enticing beach called Cattlewash. The beach is said to get its name from the cattle that were once brought down to the shore line by their owners to be washed in the salt water. At present, this undisturbed beach is lined with an expanse of white sands and greeted by the cool trade winds off the East. In Summer, Cattlewash is a very popular spot among locals who rent out the beach houses that line the coast. On the weekends during these summer months, majority of the temporary residents have large lunch parties (that often run into the night) serving the staple - rumpunch as well as large quantities of local food like baked chicken, pork, fish, macaroni pie, pudding and souse, barbequed pig tails...and the list goes on. Everyone seems to be invited, from family to friends of friends. There is no doubt that some of the best summer moments are spent along this beach!

You can be sure to enjoy your day spent on Cattlewash, maybe stop by Sand Dunes, pick up some lunch and then head down to the beach. Please note that the open ocean is not advised for swimming due to many rip currents. Instead, take advantage of the exotic rock pools scattered through out the beach and simply live life how its meant to be lived.

A #1 Beach Among Locals

Yes, we know there are many many beautiful beaches in Barbados, I mean the island is surrounded by white sands and turquoise waters, each of which are calling our names year round. So, we decided today to talk about a south-coast beach which is one of the most popular beaches among locals - Accra Beach. Its either (1) its to die for warm and blue waters (2) its white sands or (3) its convenient location with many restaurants around. What ever the reason(s), what we know is that the locals just keep returning to this magnificent beach. Take a look for your self and maybe you can decide why its so famous.

"Life Doesn't Get Much Better Than This"

Happy Monday to all our Loop Barbados readers! How was your weekend? I hope absolutely stunning whether you were in sun or snow! Okay, so this weekend we spent lounging at a recently discovered fabulous West coast beach and bar/rumshop - Ju Ju's! Usually, as many of you may know (especially in the Winter Season) the beaches can be packed and crowed, so much so that sometimes you may forget you are on the island of Barbados - yes, it even happens to us locals. Well this beach is ideal, although still slightly crowded the beach bar/rumshop pulls back in the local and cultural element many of our brilliant beaches are missing. The food is delicious mainly focusing on seafood like Bill Fish, Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Shrimp etc. Plus,  let's not forget the rumpunch which goes down like a dream but after a few you may be wobbling back home.

Parlour Beach Barbados

We sincerely hope all of you had a fabulous Holiday weekend and Christmas. Barbados was sunny and wonderful and the beaches were full of locals and tourists alike soaking in the wonderful Christmas sun. One of the beaches that may have been on your wishlist if you were in Barbados is Parlour beach. Parlour beach is located in the village of Bathsheba, sandwiched between Soup Bowl and High Rock. It is both a popular surf as well as relaxation spot. The best swell direction for Parlour is North-East and it has consistent left and rights. However, when the swell is big and the surf is up it is advised that only intermediate or advanced surfers brave the waves as the currents are very strong and sharp rocks very prominent.

So whether you decided to venture down the east coast to surf, or sip on some refreshing coconut water (yes from the coconut itself) Parlour is a definite must stop on your  Barbados 'to-do' list!

Off The Beaten Track- Little Bay

Located on the North-East coast of Barbados this untouched bay is definitely considered "Off The Beaten Track". Set among the rugged cliffs are shallow, crystal clear pools which just scream your name. As you make your way to the cliffside, the stunning Northern coastline is set right in front of your eyes to admire. Little Bay is a place of peace, with just the sounds of blowholes and the waves smashing into the rock formations which make up these natural pools.

Brandons Beach, Barbados

Brandon's beach  also known as Drill Hall beach, is situated on the South coast of Barbados. It is a very popular beach amongst the locals for both surfing and beach picnics. This beach is a top ranking surf break because of the shallow reef which creates epic waves! A few rock pools are dispersed along the shoreline in which you can relax and soak up the sun; or you can lounge under the casuarina trees while the salty breeze refreshes you and take in all that surrounds you - pure bliss.

The Rugged Coast of Bathsheba

On the rugged East coast of Barbados is the stunning beach called Bathsheba. As you inch closer and closer to the seaside you can smell the salt air and hear the waves of the Atlantic ocean beating onto the shore and enormous rocks. Bathsheba is known for its epic surf spot called "Soup Bowl" and according to the famous surfer Kelly Slater- Soup Bowl is one of the top three waves in the world! Bathsheba has a dramatic coastline made up of many rock formations, small caves and pools to wade in when the heat is up and you want to cool off. There are many small Bajan restaurants, hand made jewelry vendors and local rum shops in the Bathsheba area that you can visit. Or if you prefer just make it a day to relax, bask in the sun and catch a wave while taking in the impressive views the East coast has to offer.

How could you pass up visiting such a serene beach full of character? Loop Barbados certainly could not!

Off The Beaten Track: Cove Bay

For Loop Barbados's third feature in our Off The Beaten Track segment, we decided to take some time to introduce you to Cove Bay. To get to the North-East Bay of Cove Bay, it is quite a trek and can be tricky to find as you must make your way through a pasture of cows, sheep and goats! You are initially greeted by a 'once working' windmill and as you follow the cart road to the cliffs of Cove Bay itself, pure magic lies in front you. Take a look below and indulge yourself in what Cove Bay offers.

As you can see, Cove Bay is definitely worth the journey as at the end of the pasture stands a ragged and majestic looking cliff which the waves pound against with all their might. Cove Bay offers a stunning view of the coastline, one you can admire under the shaded coconut trees that line the cliff side.

Barbados Has Made Top 50 Beaches In The World

Loop Barbados is happy to announce that CNN Travel has recorded Bottom Bay Beach in Barbados as the 47th best beach in the world! This beach, which is located on the south east coast of Barbados, is tucked away by high coral cliffs, making it an almost unexplored part of paradise. With velvety white sands, turquoise waters and tall palms completing the scene, its no wonder this beach made it to the top 50 of the world! However, if you decide to take a swim, be very cautious as - depending on the current and swell of the day - the waves and current can become very strong.

Off The Beaten Track: Harry Smith Beach

Due to  Barbados only being 166 Square miles many people may think..oh I can see and do it ALL. However this may not be necessarily true. There are many unique spots in Barbados which are either 1. difficult to locate 2. hard to get to or 3. only locals know of them. Loop Barbados has decided to feature an "Off The Beaten Track" segment which will bring about awareness of these magical spots therefore allowing you a better chance to visit them. Our first feature on the Segment is Harry Smith Beach, located in the parish of St.Philip on the south east coast of the island.
